FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is microblading/ semi permanent make up?

Microblading and semi permanent make up are a lot more natural and realistic than the perception of ‘tattoo’ brows. While there are similarities between microblading and tattoo methods. Firstly semi permanent make up is applied to the dermis layer of the skin, ensuring pigment is applied to a more superficial, surface layer of the skin rather than tattoo method’s. Meaning over time, semi permanent make up will gradually fade into the skin whereas tattoos will not.

Pigment used in microblading and semi permanent make up is designed to gradually fade into the skin. Top ups are recommended 12-18 months depending on skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. Colour boosts also known as top ups will ensure that the brows are fresh and crisp again.

Working on a superficial layer of the skin allows for a variety of styles to be achieved. I can create hyper realistic incredibly natural detailed hair strokes all the way through to full powdered effect for those that prefer a fuller eyebrow look.  Semi permanent make up/microblading is designed to create the most natural looking effect for each individual client, using the unique contours of your own face to achieve results that suit you and your face.

How long will it last?

The length of time your permanent make up will last is based on a number of factors based on an individuals skin type, lifestyle, retention and aftercare. How long your brows will last mainly depends on skin type, please bare in mind more oily skin types don’t hold the pigment as well and the crisp hair strokes can ‘blur’ over time.  Sun exposure and sunbeds play a big part in the longevity of your brows. Please apply a high SPF to ensure the best results. I always recommend to cover your eyebrows with a face towel whilst using sunbeds to protect your brows.

How do I know which style brow is best for me?

On the day of treatment we can discuss how you would like your brows and I can give you advice on what I think will be best suited to you once we assess. Microblading, Combination brow etc explanation.

Can I still have my brows done if I have little to no natural brow hair?

Yes of course, depending on the look you wish to achieve then some shading may fill in the microblading strokes to give a fuller more realistic effect.

How long does the procedure take?

I allow 2.5 hours for a new treatment, however it never usually takes this long approx. 2 hours from start to finish including consultation etc. I am a true perfectionist so will never rush, I like to put my all into giving perfect brows.

I allow 1 hour for 8 week top ups and 1.5 hours for colour boosts over 8 weeks.

Does it hurt?

Many of my clients describe a mild discomfort until the numbing cream is applied. I never pre-numb as it effects the healed results and crispness of the hair strokes due to the change in the skin so please do not apply any numbing creams beforehand.

Am I a suitable candidate for microblading/semi permanent make up?

Semi permanent make up cannot be performed on anyone under the age of 18. It cannot be performed on anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, uncontrolled diabetes, whist undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy, skin medications must be stopped for 6 months after. However a contraindications form will be sent over prior to booking to check suitability, we can discuss all health questions before making a booking.

Will I need to take time off work after the procedure?

There is no need to take anytime off work, as long as the aftercare instructions are followed correctly then the eyebrows will not look unphotogenic at all. However colour density will be more prominent and bold for a couple of days after the procedure then the colour will soften.

What is the aftercare?

70% of results are based on the aftercare, you must follow the aftercare instructions. All clients will leave with an aftercare bag and cream will be provided.

For two weeks after procedure:

Can I get my eyebrows done if I have had previous SPMU done elsewhere?

Please send over clear pictures of your eyebrows so I can assess if I can work over and guide you with the best method for the best results. I do offer removal if I am unable to work over. Previous SPMU must be very faded and a suitable shape to work with. I do not top up other artists work so prices will be based on a new treatment.

Do I need to get my brows waxed and tinted before my appointment?

For best results please outgrow your brows as much as possible and once we have shaped your brows with the pencil I will remove any hairs out of  the shape. If you will always tint your brows and want me to match you to the suitable colour or have very white/grey hairs and want me to match a tinted brow then please ensure you have tinted at least two weeks prior due to sensitivity. please bare in mind I recommend to match your natural brows for the most natural results so if we match a tinted brow you will need to keep up with tinting if needed. Please send me a message prior to the appointment to discuss this.

What will happen on the day of treatment?

All consultations are carried out at the start of the treatment, this is where we will discuss your brow wishes and how you would like them, I always guide you and offer my opinion on the best suited or method for your skin type so please don’t worry as we can discuss on the day. You're welcome to show me pictures or screenshots of my work you like so I can see how you would like your brows.

A medical consent form will be given to fill in before we start the treatment (all of this will have been checked prior to the appointment so please ensure all medications taken etc have been mentioned to me prior enabling you a suitable candidate for treatment.

Pre procedure information will have been sent over before the appointment as well as a patch test.

Before pictures will be taken and I will pre draw a shape/thickness I think will be suited to your face and structure. We can alter if needed until we are both thoroughly happy. The shape is the most important part and time consuming, I am a perfectionist and will not start the treatment until we are both happy. If you come and ask for McDonalds brows or sperm brows then I am not the artist for you! My job is my passion and I will not do something that will not suit YOU and YOUR face. When pre drawing the shape it varies from each person, I will not start the treatment until I am happy, please take into consideration natural symmetry, facial muscles, bone structure etc.
